COMMENTS: Thomas John came to Texas with his parents and 7 siblings arriving in Weimar, Texas on Sep 9, 1978. "Strangely, Mr. Taylor, learned in the early part of January, 1942, that although he had performed the duties and enjoyed the privileges of an American citizen; he was an alien. He immediately went to Houston to take the first steps to become a bona fide citizen of the United States and by a peculiar quirk of fate, he was due to go to Houston on Thursday, Nov, 5, to receive his final papers; but instead he went to a hospital in San Antonio where death prevented his becoming a legally recognized citizen of the country he loved." Weimar Mercury, Nov 13, 1942
